Get Rich Quick

 Alright how many of you out there have fallen for these schemes? Personally, I haven’t actually fallen victim to one of these but I certainly have come close! I guess if there’s anything I have learned this far, it’s that nothing ever comes easy. I guess you really do have to put your hard work and time into anything in order for it to pay off. 

But I’m here to talk about how shitty it is that there isn’t actually such a thing as getting rich quick. And if it does exist, there is always a caveat to it. If anything sounds too easy I’m pretty positive there will always be a catch. 

Here’s a recent example I can share. 

My fiancé and I recently finished a job that on paper sounded amazing… a no-brainer really. We were told that we just had to paint a couple apartments for $25/hr each! I mean come on, who wouldn’t say no to this. Although I guess if you have zero experience with painting you might. 

Anyways, we were thrilled to have this job knowing that it’s at least a month’s worth of work. We were pretty excited until we got to our first apartment. It was absolutely disgusting! Stunk like cat piss and had the previous tenant’s shit everywhere still. So we had to not only paint the place but were expected to be the cleaners too.

 It was so gross that even after showering when we got home we still felt filthy. The other three apartments were also pretty much the same. I have never seen slumlords until this job. I kid you not, these houses should be condemned. Instead the idea is to slap some paint over everything and it’s just fine. The landlords couldn’t even find the time to fix bad plumbing or crumbling walls. My heart just went out to the poor (literally and figuratively) souls that had to live in these places. 

Getting paid for the work we did wasn’t so easy either. We literally had to track the guy that hired us down several times just to get what we earned! If he ever asks us again I just don’t think I can be enticed by the dollar signs again. 

Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
